Just Taste and See, Jay Snocker |
|
I was raised in a Christian family, but my parents didn't meet with other Christians on a regular basis. By the Lord's mercy, He provided me with a friend to go to church with and through this friendship I received the Lord when I was in 7th grade. However, for many years after that I went on living my life without much thought of the wonderful Christ who was living in me (John 14:20). Through the prayer of my grandparents the Lord was arranging everything to bring me to realize that I needed to meet with other believers and start pursuing Him (2 Timothy 2:22). By the Lord's mercy I was in college and found some seekers of Christ. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. From the very first Bible study I could tell they had something I had never experienced with any denomination. One of the first songs I remember singing at the Bible study is called Just Taste and See, based on 1 Peter 2:3. The second stanza says: Just call O Lord-He'll change your life; Just call O Lord-He'll change your life. Amazing grace He will afford; If in every place you call O Lord. After a couple of weeks I started calling O Lord and He did change my life. Today I know the Lord in a way I never knew was possible. Outwardly my life is the same as most people; I have good days and I have bad days. But inwardly I have never been happier. The inward happiness I have results from the fact that I have the Lord, the Triune God, living in me (1 John 4:15; Galatians 2:20; Romans 8:11) and no matter what happens He will never leave me (Romans 8:38-39). |
